Rifle Returns Claims Resounding Win at VMI Saturday

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State rifle team returned from its winter break to post a resounding 4613-4495 win at Virginia Military Institute Saturday. VMI also fielded a women's only team with a 4369 score.

Sohomore Bryce Ward and senior Ryan Hinson led the Eagles by both posting 1155 aggregate totals. Ward's score included a personal-best 584 in Air Rifle along with a 571 in Smallbore.

The Eagles' two freshmen, Andrew Morris and Sally Reeke, also had personal-high days on the ranges. Morris tied his Air career-best with a team-best 587 and also shot a high of 565 in Smallbore for a personal-record 1152 combined. Reeke fired a 568 in Smallbore, her best total ever. That included a record for herself of 187 kneeling and 186 standing.

On the Air range - along with Ward, Morris and Hinson - the Eagles also had a 585 from junior Erin Diehl and a 580 from sophomore Grace Weber.

In Smallbore, Diehl also chipped in a 569.

The Eagles' next action comes at home on Feb. 6-7 when they host the 2021 OVC Championships. Smallbore will be that Saturday with Air Rifle on Sunday.
