Wright State Upends Eagle Soccer

MSU Athletics

Wright State scored a goal two minutes into the second half Sunday (Sept. 21) and held the Morehead State soccer team in check as the Raiders defeated the Eagles, 1-0, at Alumni Field.

WSU moved to 3-6 with its second consecutive win versus an Ohio Valley Conference opponent. MSU concluded its non-conference schedule at 5-2-3.

"My hat is off to Wright State," Head Coach Warren Lipka said. "They out-worked and out-played us today. Now we have to regroup and get ready for a tough conference slate."

The hosts held Morehead State to three shots-on-goal while getting five off on-target.

Sarah Colvin notched her first goal of the season at 47:04. Addie Engelhart and Natalie Sedlock provided assists on the match's lone score.

MSU totaled 10 shots, and WSU had seven attempts. MSU junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd turned back three shots, while WSU's Halle Pyle recorded the shutout with three saves.

The OVC leader in corner kicks, Morehead State had six today and did not allow a corner kick to the Raiders.

The Eagles begin the 10-match conference slate Friday at Belmont. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. in Nashville.
