'Buzzard' Sings Glory of Radio Station's Heyday
For several generations, one of the hottest radio towns in the nation was Cleveland. And one of the hottest stations was WMMS, known as "the Buzzard." John Gorman, its former program director, has just published a memoir about the station.

Alejandro Aviles is a 21-year-old alternate delegate from Arkansas -- the youngest Hispanic member of the state's delegation to the Democratic National Convention. He was drawn to Boston by the idea of being with a large group of politically active Latinos. Now Aviles is spending a lot of time networking with the party's Latino caucus. Radio Expeditions:The Hunt for PT-109
Later today, the National Geographic Society announces the results of an expedition to the Solomon Islands, to look for one of the most famous sunken ships of World War II: PT-109. A dashing, young Jack Kennedy captained the boat, years before he became President Kennedy. For Radio Expeditions, NPR's Neal Conan joined undersea explorer Robert Ballard on the search.

Report Faults Radios in London Attack Response
Emergency crews responding to last July's London bombings were failed by poor communications, which caused delays treating survivors, an inquiry has concluded. The London Assembly report says some rescuers had radios that didn't work on the underground rail network -- and others' mobile phones failed.
