Morehead State's Johni Broome continued to wreak havoc on league opponents this past week, and he has been honored for the fifth time as the OVC Freshman of the Week.
On Saturday, Broome helped the Eagles to their ninth consecutive victory, pouting in 22 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds in a 19-point win at Tennessee Tech.
Broome had 17 points and eight rebounds by halftime and finished with his fourth 20-point effort in his first collegiate campaign.
He opened the week with 11 points and six rebounds in a 19-point win at Jacksonville State. Broome shot 54 percent for the week and nearly averaged a double-double at 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. He also averaged 1.5 assists and had three blocked shots.
Broome and the Eagles are in the top three in the OVC with Murray State and Austin Peay on the horizon this week. MSU hosts Murray State on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
