MSU Athletics

Junior Aaron Wier set Morehead State's 1,500-meter run school record Friday, while several other notable top 10 efforts highlighted the Morehead State track and field teams' weekend in North and South Carolina.

Wier, who along with Justin Moakler and Jordan Carrington, competed at the Raleigh Relays Friday, finished sixth among 119 runners by running the 1,500-meter race in 3:45.34.

On Saturday, the rest of the men's and women's teams took part in the Terrier Invitational at Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C.

Junior Alison Chinn took third place in the 5,000 meter women's run, coming across in 18:28.07, while junior Abbigail Dorn also scored a third-place finish. She ran the 800-meter run in 2:15.01 to score six points for the Eagles in a field of 52 runners.

The men's races featured the only two in the top six from a single school in the 5,000-meter run as junior Jackson Cooper (5th - 15:37.18) and senior Shane Rigsby (6th - 15:44.00) performed admirably.

The 800 meter men's race was dominated by the Eagles. Moakler was second in a time of 1:54.61, while teammates sophomore Mikah Bailey (3rd - 1:55.71), sophomore Cody Chism (4th - 1:56.18) and Carrington (5th - 1:56.42) were right behind.

Junior Jarrett Mattingtly and senior Corey Tooke finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Terrier Invitational 1,500-meter race.

Both teams will be back in action next on April 13 at the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
