Men's Basketball Falls on Back End of OVC Road Trip at Austin Peay

The Morehead State men's basketball team found the going tough on offense Saturday night at Austin Peay and ultimately fell 81-67 to the Govs at the Dunn Center.

MSU slipped to 4-11 overall and 0-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Eagles were led once again by junior guard Jordan Walker, who canned four three-pointers and scored 22 points. It marked his seventh contest with at least 20 points.

Sophomore forward Malek Green also reached double-figures with 15 points and completed his fourth career double-double with 11 rebounds. Senior guard A.J. Hicks put in 10 points and also tallied eight assists.

Shooting-wise, the second half proved to be much better, but overall the Eagles were limited to 35 percent. In the final stanza, Morehead State was able to connect on 41 percent.

Walker scored the Eagles' first eight points and MSU trailed only 26-21 with 6:55 left in the first half. But, the visitors hit just one of their final 11 field goal attempts in the half, and APSU ended the period on a 20-6 run to lead 46-27.

Dayton Gumm paced the Govs with 20 points.

The Eagles will be back on the road next week, starting with a 7:30 p.m. ET contest at Belmont Thursday.
