Morehead State sophomore Farah Abdulkarim set a school 5K record (14:24.12) at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Justin Moakler crossed the line in the 1500-meter in 3:51.89.
The rest of the Eagles competed at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
Abdulkarim placed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:17.73), also at Winthrop. Freshman Aaron Wier (3:58.77) placed second in the 1,500-meter. Sophomore Shane Rigsby (4:05.94), freshman Jarrett Mattingly (4:09.48), and junior Corey Tooke (4:15.37) also claimed a top-10 finish in that event. Moakler (1:52.18) finished second in the 800-meter.
On the women's side, redshirt senior Erica Parks led the way with a first-place showing in the 1500-meter developmental. She finished in 5:00.84. Freshmen Abbie Dorn (5:03.74) and Sydney Young (5:05.90) weren't far behind, claiming second and third place. Senior Hannah Bailey placed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:39.96.
Both squads will return to action next weekend at the Miami Duals in Oxford, Ohio.
