Women's Hoops Blows Out North Florida on Wells' Career-High 25 Points

MSU Athletics

Morehead State women's basketball (8-3) defeated North Florida (6-5) 84-65 on Tuesday night at UNF Arena.

"It's a quality win," said head coach Greg Todd. "I'm very happy for our whole team."

Senior Aaliyah Wells led the way for the Eagles, thanks in part to 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range. The 5-foot-8 guard from Shelbyville, Ky. recorded a career-high 25 points, complemented by six rebounds.

Morehead State forced 25 turnovers from the Ospreys, while relinquishing only 15. The Eagles led North Florida 35-11 in points off turnovers.

Sophomore guard Miranda Crockett logged nine points, nine boards, five steals, and four assists, eclipsing the 500-point mark on her career. Tuesday also marked the career debuts of redshirt-sophomore Darianne Seward and redshirt-junior Shauntae Brown. Seward tallied 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 30 minutes.

Junior forward Brooke Todd led Morehead State's effort down low, with 12 points, five rebounds, and three blocks. Fellow junior Eriel McKee filled out the box score with 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

"We're about winning right now," Todd said. "We do not have any selfishness about our team, and we have good balance."

The Eagles will finish off a three-game road trip with a matchup at Kennesaw State on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 12 p.m. ET. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
