After claiming a win in his first event of 2016, Morehead State senior Evan Childers has been named Ohio Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week.
Childers topped the field in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 'Southern Invitational in Birmingham this past weekend. His time of 9:25.13 was six seconds faster than the second-place athlete and was just 12 seconds shy of the school record.
He was one of three Eagles to score wins on opening week of the outdoor track season.
Morehead State travels to the Butler Bulldog Opener this weekend.
