Greenwell Scores 19 in Women's Hoops' Win Over JSU, 67-63

Four Eagles finished in double figures, led by senior guard Natalie Greenwell's 19 points, as the Eagles won 67-63 on Monday night in Johnson Arena over Jacksonville State.

The Eagles improved to 8-13 on the season and 2-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while the Gamecocks fell to 7-13 on the season and 2-6 in league play.

Jacksonville State started the game on an 8-0 run before the Eagles answered with an 18-7 run to end the first quarter, resulting in an 18-15 lead for MSU. Morehead State mounted another run at the end of the first half, this time scoring ten straight points, to claim a 37-23 lead at the half, the largest lead by either team.

Trailing by 14 points, Jacksonville State started the second half on a 16-2 run to get back into the game. They outscored the Eagles 24-8 in the third quarter.

The two teams battled back-and-forth throughout the fourth quarter and Greenwell's two free throws with six seconds to go sealed the victory for the Eagles.

The Eagles tallied 32 points in the paint and had eight blocked shots on the night, four of which came from junior forward Shay Steele. MSU hit 19-of-22 from the free throw line for 87 percent and recorded 10 steals on the night.

Greenwell scored a team-high 19 points, shooting 5-of-10 from the field and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Steele finished the game 8-of-12 from the field, while scoring 17 points. Junior Brianna McQueen added 14 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and five assists. Freshman guard Miranda Crockett finished with 10 points while pulling down eight rebounds.

JSU sophomore Gretchen Morrison led the way for the Gamecocks, scoring 23 points, while hitting 7-of-9 from behind the arc.

The Eagles host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
