The 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Tournament bracket is set. Morehead State has landed the eighth seed and will open against top-seeded SIUEdwardsville on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ET. All games will be played at Cougar Field in Edwardsville, Ill.
Wednesday's other first-round contests include No. 3 Murray State against No. 6 Eastern Illinois (11 a.m.), No. 2 Jacksonville State versus No. 7 Southeast Missouri (1:30 p.m.) and No. 4 Tennessee Tech against No. 5 Eastern Kentucky (4 p.m.). The tournament is double elimination.
Thursday's action features two knockout games and two winner's bracket contests. Friday's slate will include four tilts, with the championship round(s) to follow on Saturday. Games begin at 11 a.m. ET each day. SIUE won the 2014 league tournament and participated in an NCAA Regional.
SIU Edwardsville, which posted a 20-6 conference record in 2015, enters the event 39-14 overall. Morehead State, which tallied an 11-11 league mark, begins 22-22 overall. The Cougars won both regular-season meetings, by scores of 1-0 and 10-3, on March 22 at University Field.
Morehead State is making its third straight league tournament appearance, with all three being as the No. 8 seed. The Eagles, who have had two OVC Pitchers of the Week this season, finished league play two wins better than last year and have increased their overall victories by seven.
