Cross Country Closes Season with Top Times at NCAA Regional

Four of the top 10 performances in program history were set Friday (Nov. 14) as the Morehead State women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Southeast Regional at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. On the men's side, seniors Gary Monroe and Desmond Bell led the way.

Junior Alex Morris led the Eagle women, covering the 6K course in 22:07.3 which stands for the second-best time in school history. Sophomore Hannah Mullins was close behind with a 22:27.1, which is now No. 4 on the list.

Junior Erica Parks' time of 22:53.4 is now sixth best. Sophomore Haley Mullins clocked a 22:57.2, which sits No. 7 on the top-10 list.

Monroe crossed the finish line in 32:11.2 while Bell ran the ninth fastest 10K in school history, finishing with a 32:22.2.

Junior Evan Childers finished third on the men's squad with a time of 32:45.7. Freshman Hunter Trenary and Mason Blevins ran in their first regional, finishing right behind each other with times of 33:17.4 and 33:25.2. Juniors Jesse Moreno (34:09.2) and Jorge Gil-Juarez (34:49.8) closed out the MSU contingent.

For the women, sophomore Mackenzie Butler clocked in with a 23:07.6, and sophomore Hannah Bailey crossed the finish line shortly after at 23:31.7. Freshman Abby Soltisz rounded out the seven-member lineup at 23:38.6.

The NCAA Regional closed out the 2014 cross country seasons. The outdoor track seasons are set to begin in March.
