Eagles Ready For Spring Practice

The Morehead State football team has opened its spring practice schedule. The Eagles are scheduled to have 14 workouts between March 27 and April 17.

"We are excited about the beginning of spring practice. The next four weeks are an opportunity for our returning players to get a head start on the 2014 season. We have a lot of work to do, but our student-athletes and coaches are certainly looking forward to it,” said Head Coach Rob Tenyer.

Morehead State is scheduled to practice at Jayne Stadium on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles are also slated to have workouts each Saturday at 10 a.m. All practices are open to the public and free of charge.

The annual Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 19. Tailgating will begin at 2 p.m. The first-ever Alumni Flag Football Game will follow at 4 p.m. Current players and coaches will then take center stage for a contest/workout at 5:15 p.m.

"There was a lot of excitement surrounding last year's Spring Game, and I think this year's will be even better. We want to get as many former players as possible back on campus. We also invite our fans and community members to Jayne Stadium for what should be a terrific day,” added Tenyer.

Morehead State finished Tenyer's first season as head coach 3-9 overall and 3-5 in the Pioneer Football League, but the Eagles lost just six players to graduation. MSU's top quarterback, running back, receiver, punter, kicker and five of its top eight tacklers return for the upcoming campaign.

"We had several true freshmen and redshirt freshmen on the field last year, but that should help us in the long run. We are optimistic heading into spring practice. Our focus is one day at a time. This is an opportunity to get better as a team, and I expect our young men will do that,” commented Tenyer.

"Our program will continue to be built on three main principles. No. 1, we want to educate and graduate our student-athletes. No. 2, we want to build a campus and community camaraderie. And finally, we want to win PFL championships. If we stay focused on those three objectives, I know we will be in good shape,” said Tenyer.
