Sugar Branch Stream Restoration Project Planned

A state grant will help Rowan County with a stream restoration and erosion control project in the Clearfield area. Judge Executive Jim Nickell says the work will take place along Sugar Branch Stream.

“It’s about a 61-thousand dollar project, including engineering and restoration of the stream, supporting the creek bank and soil, so that it doesn’t erode and wash away the soil.” –Jim Nickell

Nickell says the project will also help prevent flooding. He says county crews removed timber and other debris from the stream last spring. The grant was obtained by Morehead State University’s Environmental Education Center Director April Haight.
