‘Trifecta!’ to perform March 6

Morehead State University School of Music, Theatre and Dance will present a faculty recital by "Trifecta!" Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall within  Baird Music Hall.

During this recital, Trifecta! will present works by Astor Piazzola, Karl Goepfart, Malcolm Solomon, and David Heinick. They will be joined in the Heinick by guest Richard Kravchak, oboe, from Marshall University.

Consisting of Lori Baruth, clarinet; David Oyen, bassoon; and Chialing Hsieh, piano, the members of Trifecta! are strong advocates of new music, they have commissioned several composers to grow the available works for this instrumentation.

New commissions by Mark Zanter, Christopher Weait, and Michael Young can be heard on their debut album, “Cumulus Accumulation,” which was released in Spring 2015. Since that time, they have performed new works written or arranged for them by composers Christopher Milby and Adrienne Albert. They have been invited to perform at the International Clarinet Association Conference at the University of Kansas in August 2016 where they will perform new works written for them by Chih-Chen Wei and Mark Zanter.

This semester, they also are performing at Marshall University, Ohio University-Southern and Capital University.
