NICHOLAS COUNTY
Water has receded from KY 32, KY 1285, KY 1244, and areas previously closed are now open.
Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 crews have placed high water signs at those locations or have barricaded roads as needed. Motorists are reminded to never drive through high water as even just a few inches of water can float a vehicle.
With continued rain in the forecast, flooded roads could remain overnight or could occur in other areas throughout the week. Motorists should make travel plans accordingly: Seek detours around low-lying areas or roads prone to flooding, and follow the National Weather Service warning when encountering high water – Turn around, don’t drown.
State highway crews will continue to monitor state highways and place or remove high-water warning signs as necessary.
