Traffic Advisory: Daily Closures Begin March 6 on KY 36 for Safety Project

newstalkkgvo.com

Temporary daytime closures of KY 36 in northwest Bath County will start March 6 for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's $850,000 highway safety improvement project.

Beginning Monday, March 6, contractors will close KY 36 to all thru traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday between Sharpsburg and KY 1325. Crews will be replacing more than 50 drainage pipes under KY 36, and the road will be closed to thru traffic at different work sites. Local traffic may access KY 36 up to the work sites. Accommodations will be made for emergency vehicles. School bus traffic will not be impacted.

In addition to pipe replacements, construction will include paving and guardrail installation, all of which will allow for wider shoulders and improved crash recovery on the highway.

Motorists should watch message boards for details about daily closures. Traffic may reroute using US 60 or KY 11 and connecting state routes such as KY 1325, KY 1106, KY 1198 and others.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
