Traffic Advisory: Bridge Upgrades Mean One-lane Traffic on KY 386, KY 32, KY 57, KY 1285

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Motorists should watch for one-lane traffic on KY 386, KY 32, KY 57 and KY 1285 in the coming weeks as contractors begin a $589,000 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet upgrade project for five bridges in Nicholas County.

The work, which will be done by Delong Concrete LLC, includes joint and other repairs as well as concrete overlays across the driving surface of each bridge. Construction requires one-lane traffic, controlled by temporary signals, on the following schedule:

·         KY 386 (Carpenter Road) bridge over Big Rush Creek (at milepoint 4.2 about a mile east of US 68), work and traffic changes expected to start on or about Monday, Feb. 27

·         KY 32 (Myers Road) bridges over Scrub Grass Creek (at milepoint 15.2 near the KY 57 Cassidy Creek Road intersection) and over Fleming Creek (at milepoint 17.2 at Pleasant Valley), work and traffic changes expected to start on or about Monday, March 6

·         KY 57 (Gravel Road) bridge over Somerset Creek (at milepoint 4.2 a half mile north of the KY 1285 intersection), work and traffic changes expected to start on or about Monday, March 13

·         KY 1285 (East Union Road) bridge over Somerset Creek (at milepoint 0 at the KY 57 intersection), work and traffic changes expected to start on or about Monday, March 13

Work start dates and schedules could change depending upon weather conditions.

Motorists should expect one-lane traffic, day and night, for up to 30 days after construction starts at each location. Delays are possible.

Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
