New Speed to Market website provides resources for large and small businesses in Kentucky

Samantha Morrill

Governor Andy Beshear and other state officials have announced the launch of a new resource for large and small businesses both already in the Commonwealth and those looking to move to Kentucky. Speed to Market is a website to help people register a business and provide other helpful resources.

Governor Beshear said the idea for this resource comes from the struggle and efforts to rebuild communities after the deadly flooding in eastern Kentucky.

“So, we wanted to take that cooperation that’s helped us do what many thought was improbable to impossible and unleash it. Small businesses and large businesses alike can get the advantages of what we learned to not feel the impact of different cabinets or groups regulating different things but to have one, positive experience with this state that gets their businesses up and running,” said Beshear.

Beshear also said in creating the Speed to Market campaign, officials have been working with large businesses to ensure small businesses can use the resource as well.

“That of any size, anywhere in the Commonwealth. If you’re looking at coming here, you can get up and running faster using the same tools we use with the very largest of companies. From financial incentives to resources by industry, guidance on tax information, licenses and permitting, insurance needs, and more. This site opens doors to put you on the right path,” said Beshear.

The Governor added that the website will help small businesses access direct contacts to help navigate opening requirements. Businesses that have already benefited from the Speed to Market resource include Eastern Light Distillery in Morehead. Kentuckians and businesses can visit the website at speedtomarket.ky.gov for more information.
