Residents of Rowan County and surrounding areas will soon have the opportunity to dispose of their household hazardous waste at the Rowan County Community Recycling Center.
Tyler Brown with the recycling center said they will soon begin advertising and instructing people on what counts as household hazardous waste.
“We got an HHW, household hazardous waste event coming up September 20th. We’re going to start advertising for that; look for that on Facebook, newspapers, radio. That will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the recycling center,” said Brown.
Brown said the center will be accepting quote “a little bit of everything” - besides glass.
“Any pesticides, chemicals, paint, oil, old gas, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, batteries,” said Brown.
The recycling center is set to host another tire collection this fall. Brown said the most recent tire event was a huge success and that they hope for another great turnout in October. Local environmental officials said the exact date will be revealed soon and will likely take place at the old road department location.
