Sisters of Notre Dame granting funds for charitable works

SND Eastern Kentucky Foundation

Nearly one year has passed since the Sisters of Notre Dame Eastern Kentucky Foundation stepped down from their role at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Recently the foundation opened its first cycle of grant applications for nonprofits, community groups, and local organizations working to improve the quality of life across the region.

The CEO and Executive Director of the foundation, Mindy Highley, said the sisters still hope to serve the people of eastern Kentucky despite no longer being directly involved with the hospital.

“We want to collaborate and partner with organizations who are already doing great work but could use a little bit of extra help to do a bit more work to serve those who are less fortunate and could use a little bit of assistance,” said Highley.

She said the foundation still aims to serve the people of eastern Kentucky as they have for the last 50 years.

“It’s a great region – it’s a great area and so the sisters, particularly those who live here with us, want to see everyone striving for fullness of life and having the best possible life they can,” added Highley.

The funds provided by these grants are available for any organization seeking to do work for the people of eastern Kentucky in the categories of health and wellness, education and career development, or quality of life. Prospective applicants can find more information about these grants on the foundation’s website.
