Saturday, July 5 marks the annual Freedom Fest hosted by Downtown Morehead Inc. to celebrate Independence Day. Set to start at 3 p.m., the event will feature food and beverage vendors, live music, a car show, bouncy houses, the Kentucky National Guard Music Battalion, and more. Fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 that evening.
Tony Pence, Executive Director of Morehead Downtown Inc. said Freedom Fest vendor applications are still open as they still have more spots to fill.
“If somebody wants to be a vendor, they can request an application by emailing me at downtownmorehead@gmail.com and I’ll email them an application. If they need to have it mailed, they can email me their address. That’s how we pick up vendors and that kind of thing too, so that needs to get out,” said Pence.
Pence added that locals don’t have to wait for Saturday to begin festivities as they are also hosting a live music event on July 4.
“We will have Friday Night Live out here on Battson-Oates. I have Sean Whiting and The Big Badness, and we will have the Kentucky National Guard’s New Orleans style jazz band down here that night too on the fourth,” said Pence.
Event organizers said admission for both events is free and all are welcome to attend.
