Officials with Frontier Housing have an update on a new low-income housing complex in Morehead.
Tom Manning-Beavin, President and CEO of Frontier Housing, the organization behind the development, said his team is working with other community partners to make sure those who need this housing most can apply to live in the development as soon as possible.
“We really want these units to maximize their impact on the community, and part of that maximizing that impact is allowing our partners who are sheltering the most vulnerable people among us, helping them by giving them really quality housing,” said Manning-Beavin.
The Park View development, which is across the street from the Sheltowee Falls Splash Pad near City Park, will have 40 units for low-income families. Renters will have to meet eligibility requirements to be considered for the units, but Manning-Beavin said they are working with local partners to make sure they can help people who need it.
“As soon as construction is completed and we have certificates of occupancy, we’ll transition very quickly to starting to move people in. My hope is that we can have a lot of tenants prequalified and be ready to move people in,” said Manning-Beavin.
Manning-Beavin said he hopes that they will have the majority of the apartments leased before construction is completed He added that although winter weather impacted the construction, they anticipate everything being completed on time, around October to November this year.
The apartments will consist of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. There will be a community laundry facility, as well as washer/dryer hookups in each unit. A rental office and maintenance office will be located on site. In addition, there will be a playground area. More information can be found on frontierky.org.
