A new method of house construction is being tested in the Commonwealth. Frontier Housing has launched its Dream Build Initiative in Morehead, which uses modular construction to make homes.

In the Dream Build style, each area of the house is made up of cubes that each have unique features necessary for a home. These cubes can be placed together in any layout, allowing for different designs and the possibility of expansion.

Tom Manning-Beavin is the President and CEO of Frontier Housing. He said Dream Build is in the works in Morehead.

“We hope to construct at least three prototypes this year. And then, simultaneously as we do those prototypes and learn how to do that work, get our people educated on how to do that particular type of construction,” said Manning-Beavin.

Manning-Beavin said they will add Dream Build homes to their list of services after the testing phase in Morehead.

“We’ll be looking to build a pipeline of orders for that product. Some of that will be orders that we generate, so it will be an option to home buyers. Also, it will be orders from the general public,” said Manning-Beavin.

The CEO said properties built in the Dream Build method will be available to Frontier’s clients if they want to build a new house. He said the company will take the time to learn the system in 2024, so they can build new homes as efficiently as possible in the future.
