Rep. White announces more than $71 million headed to Rowan County for local improvements

Representative Richard White announced on Wednesday that $71,571,400 will be distributed in Rowan County over the next three years. The funding is allocated through HB1, which makes one-time investments towards paying down public pension liabilities, improving water infrastructure, and preparing rural areas for economic development opportunities.

It includes more than $10 million for improvements to the CRAFT Academy at MSU, $18 million for regional water projects through the Gateway Area Development District, and $2.5 million for MSU’s Space Science Center.

The rest of the nearly $4.5 million dollars comes from the state road plan and is earmarked for roadway infrastructure throughout the county. Ten different projects are outlined. They include the installation of guardrails on U-S 60, improvement to safety and connectivity on several roadways, and a project to reduce congestion at the intersection of US-60 and KY-32 near downtown Morehead.   • $20.5M in FY 25 to improve KY-32 from Park Hills Drive to Viking Drive N.
  • $250k in FY 25 to provide a planning study to determine possible alternates and feasibility of extending KY 801 from intersection with KY 158 at Sharkey to KY 32 near the Fleming/Rowan County line.
  • $114k in FY 25 to install guardrails on US-60 in Rowan County
  • $50k in FY 25 to install guardrails on KY-3319 in Rowan County
  • $3M in FY 25, $2M in FY 26 to improve safety and connectivity and reduce congestion on KY-377 from KY-32 to North of KY-799.
  • $4.5M in FY 25, $5M in FY 26 to improve safety and connectivity and reduce congestion on KY-377 from just south of Clear Fork Rd to just north of KY 799 (Big Perry Rd)
  • $150k in FY 24 to widen and soften curve on CR 1391 (Bratton Branch Rd) at Walmart
  • $2.25M in FY 25 to improve safety and reduce congestion on KY 32 (Flemingsburg Rd) between the intersections of CS 1203 (Trademore Dr) and CS 1001 (Fraley Dr) and in the vicinity of the I-64 interchange
  • $1.28M in FY 25 to reduce congestion and improve mobility on KY 32 (Flemingsburg Rd) between the intersections with KY 3531 (Viking Dr) and CS1020 (Mabry Dr)
  • $530k in FY 24, $870k in FY 25 to improve safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of US 60 (West Wilkinson Rd) and KY 32 (Flemingsburg Rd).
