Santa, live music and storytelling Rowan County Public Library open house

Samantha Morrill

The Rowan County Public Library invites everyone to their upcoming annual holiday open house celebration. The open house is Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Organizers said there will be a wide variety of entertainment including live music from the Back Room Strings, story times, pictures with Santa, refreshments and more. The event is free for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Morgan Mullins is the head of marketing and public relations for the Rowan County Public Library. He said the point of the open house is to give back to the community.

“So, the open house is a chance to invite everybody inside to use the library all at one time, and to have just a welcoming environment; meet each other, kind of like a little community mixer. But especially so that we have the chance to say thank you to everyone all in one place.” He said.

Organizers also encourage community members to get involved in the production of the event by helping with the library’s holiday decorations through their free craft program.

“We are very invested in demonstrating our attachment to the community, and in making sure that the people of Rowan County feel like we are their public library. So, to that end, this year we are asking people to come in and participate in our free craft program where they’re going to make customized holiday ornaments which we are then going to use to decorate the library so people can see themselves reflected in the decorations,” said Mullins.

More information about upcoming library events can be found on the Rowan County Public Library website.
