Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 19, on a $2.6 million federally-funded Highway Safety Improvement Program project on US 460 in Morgan County.
The work involves roadway rehabilitation, asphalt surfacing, minor widening, and drainage structure replacement between milepoints 5.941 and 10.260. This is between the reconstructed segment east of Ezel and Grassy Creek. Travel between West Liberty and Frenchburg will be affected.
During the project, which is to be completed by Nov. 1, there will be periodic full short-term closures of US 460 for drainage structure replacements. These closures will be announced in advance to give drivers adequate notice.
Between 1,300 and 2,000 vehicles use this section of US 460 each day. The road is the main link between Morgan and Menifee counties.
The project is part of the Highway Safety Improvement Program, a federal aid program of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, with the purpose of achieving a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
