The Rowan County Fiscal Court issued a warning to residents Monday night about a potentially deadly batch of drugs causing overdoses in the region.
The emergency alert asked the community to check in on friends and family members with a history of drug abuse after a handful of overdoses took place over the weekend.
Judge Executive Harry Clark says no family is untouched by the drug epidemic.
Anyone who expects a person is overdosing should call 9-1-1. Laws currently in place in Kentucky protect callers and overdose victims from prosecution.
