Cheer Program Brings Total National Titles to 50 With Partner Stunt and Coed Wins

Morehead State Cheerleading added to its national championship tradition this past weekend at the UCA Nationals in Orlando, Fla.

The coed squad won the program's 28th Division I national championship. The all-girl partner stunt team of Frankie Capilets, Sydney Sturgill, Haley Whitacre and Paige Ernst also won a national championship.

Begun by former coach, the late Myron Doan, and continued currently by head coach Mark Coleman, the Morehead State cheer program has now won 50 national championships since the first competition in 1988. Former coaches who led teams to national titles were also Tony Nash and Bill Mayo.

In addition, the coed partner stunt team of Willie Coggins and Nicole Guest took second place, while Haley Jackson, Lyric Spears, Maddy Finnell, and Chloe McCloud represented all-girl stunt with a second place showing. All-girl took fourth place in the team event.
