Kentucky Native Tray Hollowell Returns to the Bluegrass and Morehead State Basketball

Tray Hollowell, a native of Hopkinsville, Ky., and a four-year standout at perennial Southern Conference power Wofford, has chosen Morehead State for his final season of eligibility. Hollowell will graduate transfer and be ready to play for the Eagles in 2021-22.

Hollowell helped Wofford to a pair of postseason appearances in his four years, including winning a game in the NCAA Tournament and going 30-5 in 2018-19.

"We are thrilled to bring Tray back home to the state of Kentucky to finish out his fantastic college career," said head coach Preston Spradlin. "We have watched Tray since he was in high school and have been impressed with his growth during his time at Wofford. He is a dynamic athlete who can impact the game with his scoring, passing and defensive intensity. Tray is a winner, and his 85 wins and NCAA tournament experience will enhance our team and goal of getting back to the Big Dance."

Hollowell, who prepped at Hopkinsville's University Heights Academy, scored 799 career points and hit 186 three-pointers, hitting better than 36 percent from distance his entire career.

In 2020-21, he helped Wofford to a 15-9 mark while scoring 11.1 points per game and nailing 60 treys. He scored in double figures 15 times, including 20 or more twice and a career-high 22 in a win over Mercer.

As a junior in 2019-20 he averaged 7.7 points and hit a career-high 63 three-balls. He also shot better than 40 percent overall his entire collegiate career.

As a freshman, he helped the Terrier into the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament with their 21 victories.

At University Heights, he helped his team win the region all four years. Hollowell averaged 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in his high school career and finished with more than 2,000 points. He was named to the all-district and all-region teams all four years. During his junior season, Hollowell was named Third-Team All-State. His senior season culminated with a Second-Team All-State selection.
