Men's Golf Earns Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team Recognition

MSU Athletics

For the fourth time in the last six seasons, Morehead State men's golf has earned All-Academic Team recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization announced Wednesday.

Morehead State posted a team GPA of 3.35 during the 2019-20 academic year and was one of three Ohio Valley Conference institutions to garner the GCAA's All-Academic Team recognition and was one of 144 NCAA Division I men's golf programs to maintain a GPA greater than 3.00.

"I am proud of the overall performance of our team in the classroom," said head coach Matthew Martin. "We want to excel on and off the course and this recognition is because of their effort both on campus and at home during the spring semester."

In total, 250 institutions at the NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA Division I and II maintained team GPAs of 3.00 or above, with 95 programs receiving President's Special Recognition honors, finishing with a team GPA of 3.50 or above.

The Eagles team recognition comes following the selection of two student-athletes, redshirt junior Ryan Gillum and junior Joe Muschong, as GCAA All-America Scholars for their efforts in the classroom and on the course during the 2019-20 season.
