Men's Golf Adds Local Product Kyler Barton for 2020-21 Season

Following an exceptional high school career that has seen six Kentucky Christian Athletic Association Team Championships and three KCAA Individual Championships, Kyler Barton will continue his career with the Morehead State men's golf program, joining as a member of the team's 2020-21 signing class.

A local product, hailing from Morehead, Ky., Barton bolsters an expansive group of Kentucky golfers on the Eagles' 2020-21 roster, becoming the ninth Bluegrass State native to join the program for the 2020-21 season.

"We are excited to add Kyler to our program," said head coach Matthew Martin. "He is another talented young man from our area that will be a great fit for our program."

Barton joins the Eagle program after leading Lakeside Christian Academy to six-consecutive (2014-19) Kentucky Christian Athletic Association Varsity Golf State Championships. During the Falcons' championship run, Barton claimed three-straight (2017-19) KCAA Varsity Golf State Championships Individual Championships.

He enters his senior season seeking a fourth-consecutive KCAA Individual Championship while looking to extend Lakeside Christian Academy's KCAA State Championship streak to seven-straight titles.

In addition to his success at LCA, Barton is also an accomplished junior golfer, competing on the Golfweek Junior, Hurricane Junior Golf, Kentucky Junior PGA, and Optimist International Golf Tours. During his career, he's placed top-three in 81 junior golf events, including an impressive 49 career victories.

On the Kentucky Junior PGA Tour, Barton has finished top-10 in 35 of 37 events in which he's competed since joining the tour in 2012. Of his 35 top-10 finishes, 17 have been victories including six during the 2014 season and an additional five-in five events-during the 2016 season.

"Kyler has enjoyed a ton of success at the junior level and he will work hard to continue developing his game at the college level,” added Martin.

Off the course, Barton is an honors student at Lakeside Christian Academy and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Beta Club.
