Volleyball Earns Eighth Straight APR Public Recognition

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State volleyball program has been publicly recognized again by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for earning a multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) in the top 10 percent of all squads. It marks the program's eighth straight APR public honor. MSU's Beach Volleyball program has also earned the APR recognition this year.

Each year, the NCAA honors selected Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate. The honors for this year include the previous four years leading up to 2017-18. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

APR scores for all teams will be released on May 8.

For the 2017-18 year, Chandler Clark, Maddie Fella, Olivia Lohmeier, Danielle McCarson and Jessie Wachtman earned OVC Academic Medals of Honor for the highest grade point averages in their sport. In addition, seven were named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll for indoor and eight earned the honor for beach.
