No. 18 Rifle Wins Dual Match at Rose-Hulman

The No. 18 Morehead State rifle team posted a 4,561-4,409 dual-match victory over Division III opponent Rose-Hulman on Saturday (Jan. 31) at the Cook Stadium Rifle Range. The Eagles registered a 2,283-2,234 advantage in air rifle and 2,278-2,175 upper hand in smallbore.

MSU claimed the top seven spots in the individual standings. Freshman Haley Wilson led the way with an aggregate score of 1,148, while senior Ethan Cole recorded an 1,143, junior Russell Smith managed an 1,138, freshman Dan Hill notched an 1,134 and freshman Seth Baker tallied an 1,133.

Wilson paced the Eagles with a 581 in air rifle and tied for third with a 567 in smallbore. Smith led Morehead State with a 574 in smallbore, while Hall finished second with a 572. Baker carded a personal-best 578 in air rifle, which placed second, while Cole tied for third in smallbore with a 567.

Cole tied his own school record with a 189 in smallbore standing. Hall, Smith and Wilson also established personal bests in aspects of the smallbore competition.

Morehead State now prepares for the five-team Ohio Valley Conference Championship, which set for Saturday and Sunday at Jacksonville State's Gamecock Rifle Range.
