House Approves Legislation Creating Autism Advisory Council

Teens Health

The Kentucky House of Representatives has approved legislation intended to help the parents of autistic children access state and community services.

The measure sponsored by Representatives Rocky Adkins and Greg Stumbo, creates a 24 member advisory board within the Cabinet for Human Resources to spearhead the effort. Stumbo is a Democrat from Prestonsburg and Speaker of the House.

Stumbo says the board would assist in making information available and coordinating services. Funding for the Advisory Council on Autism Spectrum Disorders would come from the Governor’s executive branch budget.
