Rogers' Security Bill Pulled

Republican leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday pulled a border security bill from the floor despite support for the measure by Kentucky Congressman Hal Rogers. The Somerset lawmaker chairs the Appropriations Committee and says the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border demands quick action…

Rogers was urging passage of a 659-million dollar security bill that called for expedited deportations of Central American migrants trying to enter the U.S. illegally. However, the measure was withdrawn when it became clear that there wasn’t enough support for it among the Republican caucus in the GOP-controlled chamber.
