Kentucky Legislature Recognizes Wear Red Day

National “Wear Red Day” has been recognized by the Kentucky general assembly. The American Heart Association urges everyone to wear red to bring attention to the number one killer of women; heart disease.

The issue was brought before members of the House by Representative Martha Jane King of Lewisburg.

“I do think that we need to make sure that we have as much research on women as we do men to make sure that that’s equal across the board.  And traditionally, you know, we always think of men dying of heart disease.  It’s just the first thing that pops into your mind,” said King.

Following recognition on the House floor today (Feb. 7), a majority of members, most wearing a piece of red clothing, gathered together in front of the chamber for a picture.
