Rep Stacy Phone Deregulation Skeptic

Kentucky Legislature

State Representative John Will Stacy is skeptical of any state or federal deregulation proposals that don’t guarantee support for landline phone service in rural communities. The West Liberty Democrat’s district includes Morgan, Rowan, Menifee and Wolfe Counties.

Stacy says the terrain of eastern Kentucky requires major investments in cell phone towers that companies may not be willing to make. Besides, he says, the March, 2012 tornado that devastated parts of his district proved how unreliable cell phones can be during a storm…

Stacy made his comments this week during a meeting of the Kentucky Legislature’s Interim Joint Committee on Economic Development and Tourism.
