Kentucky's Small Businesses Offered Assistance Following Winter Storm

Westport News

With much of the Commonwealth crippled by continuing severe winter weather, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is reaching out to small businesses across the Commonwealth with a Winter Storm Business Services Hotline and online services.

“While roads across the state are being cleared, businesses can still connect with us online to get their filings done or via our Winter Storm Business Hotline with any questions regarding their business transactions,” said Grimes.

Indeed, since Friday, February 13, more than 500 new entities have registered with the Secretary of State’s office, and thousands of business filings have been received.

“Snow doesn’t shut us down,” said Grimes. “We will shovel our way out together.”

Grimes hopes the rate of activity will continue despite the inclement weather and reminds businesses that many of her office’s services are available online.

Existing entities can, among other things, file their annual reports, renew an assumed name, or file a Statement of Change of Registered Agent/Office or Principal Office through the Secretary of State’s website at: http://www.sos.ky.gov

New businesses can quickly register with the Secretary of State’s office through the Kentucky Business One Stop Portal at: http://www.onestop.ky.gov

The Portal offers many resources for starting, operating, and expanding your business, including information regarding insurance, licensing, and regulatory requirements.

For more information about online business resources, call the office’s Winter Storm Business Services Hotline at: 502-208-9824 or visit online at: http://www.sos.ky.gov or www.onestop.ky.gov
