Christian Music Festival Plans Comeback

The Ichthus Christian Music Festival is back for 2014, but earlier than first announced.

The New England-based Creation Fest organization took over the Ichthus Festival in 2013 after financial challenges brought an end to the long running festival the previous year.  The first comeback event was initially scheduled for this fall.

Ichthus Director Bill Darpino says it is now set for June fourth through the seventh.

“In talking with some churches and different people who have been involved in the event, that it was bumping into school days and there were some difficulties there with just the ease of getting to the event,” said Darpino.

This summer’s Ichthus Festival will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park.  Darpino says the recreational vehicle-friendly camping area makes it a good site for the music event.   Darpino says a full listing of bands should be on the website soon.

“We just recently announced that Need to Breathe will be one of our headliners there.  We also have Switchfoot and over the next two weeks we’ll be announcing the full lineup.  We’re almost done with booking that,” added Darpino.

Ichthus closed its gates in late 2012 due to financial challenges.  Ichthus Director Bill Darpino says a Creation Fest financial model will be used to run the Kentucky festival.  He says ticket prices will remain in line with those charged at the last Ichthus Festival.
