Pioneer Museum To Be Repaired

Kentucky’s parks commissioner says 125-thousand dollars has been earmarked for the repair of the Pioneer Museum at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park. Blue Licks’ Manager Michael Schwendau says the museum has been closed since the spring of 2012 because of damage from a water leak:

We went ahead and approached the finance cabinet to have their public health person come in and arranged for some air samples about the air quality in the lower gallery and that’s when we discovered a molding issue. It’s a non-toxic type but it does cause irritation to breathing and as a matter of public safety, we went ahead and closed the museum.”

Schwendau says the repairs will help preserve the museum’s archives. Work is expected to begin next January.
