Morehead State Beach Volleyball opened its 2022 season with a pair of 5-0 wins Saturday. The Eagles swept both Liberty and Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) at the Grand Sands complex in Loveland, Ohio.
Against Liberty, No. 1 pair Allison Whitten and Olivia Lohmeier won 21-12, 21-15. At No. 2, Trinity Miller teamed with Anya Reinhard for a 21-11, 21-18 sweep. Newcomer Bella Williams and veteran Olivia Montelisciani had a battle at No. 3 but prevailed 21-14, 19-21, 15-13.
Margaret Musselman partnered with Abby Hulsman to score a 21-12, 21-12 triumph at No. 4, while Raegan Alexander - who transferred from EKU for this season - and Bridget Bessler scored a 21-19, 21-13 win on court five. In the extra pairing, Andrea Grimes and Irene Wogenstahl stymied their foes 21-6, 21-14.
In the LMU victory, Whiten and Lohmeier moved to 2-0 with a 21-10, 24-22 win. Miller and Reinhard also won in two sets, 21-11 and 21-18. Williams and Montelisciani swept their matchup, 21-12, 21-16. On court four, Musselman and Hulsman dominated 21-8, 21-9. And Bessler and Alexander finished off the win with a 21-19, 21-13 triumph.
The Eagles will be back in action March 12-13 at the College of Charleston Beach Classic, facing EKU, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville and C of C.
