MSPR Debuts ‘Afternoon Blend’ on June 18

Morehead State Public Radio (WMKY – 90.3FM) will debut a new program this summer. Afternoon Blend will offer a mix of smooth jazz and adult hits for an upbeat program of contemporary jazz, familiar hits, and today’s singers, songwriters, and musicians.

Beginning June 18, Afternoon Blend will be heard Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to 3:00 p.m. following Midday News on Morehead State Public Radio.

Locally produced by WMKY, Afternoon Blend is a relaxing mixture of familiar-sounding songs from today’s musicians and adult hits from the 1980’s. The program is designed to be upbeat, uplifting, familiar, and comfortable for afternoon listening.

Afternoon Blend will showcase contemporary, smooth jazz musicians such as George Benson, David Sanborn, and Kirk Whalum. Familiar hits from the 1980’s will feature Chicago, Gloria Fleetwood Mac, Michael McDonald, and Lionel Richie. The program will also highlight new and rising artists including Sarah Jarosz, Grace Pettis, and Maggie Rogers.

WMKY serves more than twenty counties throughout eastern Kentucky from the campus of Morehead State University. Listeners can listen to WMKY at 90.3FM, online (www.wmky.org), phone app, or smart speaker (“Play WMKY”).
