‘Afternoon Blend’ Highlights New Programs on MSPR

Morehead State Public Radio (WMKY, 90.3FM) has announced new weekday afternoon and overnight programs to include smooth jazz and adult hits, traditional jazz classics, and the New York Philharmonic. The new weekday and overnight program schedule will begin the week of June 16.

Afternoon Blend

Afternoon Blend (Tuesday – Friday, noon to 3:00 p.m.) is a production of WMKY with smooth jazz and adult hits for an upbeat mix of jazz instrumentals, familiar hits, and contemporary sounds from today’s singers, songwriters, and musicians.

Overnight Jazz

The Jazz Network from WFMT (weekdays, midnight to 5:00 a.m.) offers the finest in traditional jazz and jazz vocalists performing classics from the Great American Songbook. Hosts include vocalist Dee Alexander, jazz experts John Hill and Dave Schwan, and pianist/vocalist Jana Lee Ross.

Morning Classics with Greg Jenkins

Greg Jenkins (Monday – Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to noon) continues WMKY’s tradition of offering the best in popular classical music. Special features include 90 Second Naturalist, A Moment of Science, Morehead State Today, The Reader’s Notebook, and Word of The Day.

New York Philharmonic

The New York Philharmonic from WFMT (Monday, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) presents recent performances plus selections from archives and commercial recordings. Since their first live national radio broadcast over the CBS network on October 5, 1930, the New York Philharmonic has enjoyed an almost continuous presence on national radio.

Modern Notebook

Composer and musician Tyler Kline journeys into new territory with music from contemporary classical artists and living composers on Modern Notebook (Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.). The program showcases a variety of music that engages and inspires, along with stories behind the music for a journey into contemporary classical music.

WFMT Orchestra Series

The WFMT Orchestra Series (Friday, 10:00 a.m. to noon) spotlights orchestras from across the country and around the world. The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, and orchestras from Europe, United Kingdom, and around the world are regularly featured.
