Public Meeting for KY 7 in Elliott and Morgan Counties Planned January 19

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers and consultants will hold a public meeting in Sandy Hook this month to present the preferred design for a KY 7 highway improvement project in Elliott and Morgan counties.

The open-house style meeting will take place 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, in the Adkins-Caudill Performing Arts Center at Elliott County High School in Sandy Hook.

The public and interested parties may attend at any time during the two-hour meeting to review the preferred alternate for rebuilding 10 miles of KY 7 from the southern city limits of Sandy Hook to the KY 711 intersection at Wrigley in Morgan County.

Those attending will be encouraged to provide feedback on the project, and will have the opportunity to ask questions and fill out comment forms.

The reconstruction project, which is currently in the design phase, began in August 2014 as state highway engineers and consultants met with the public about changes that would make KY 7 a better and safer roadway.

Engineers then developed preliminary designs, which were presented to the public in April 2015. Feedback from that meeting as well as continued engineering study and analysis led to the preferred alternate that will be presented this month.

For more information, please call Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 toll free at (800) 817-2551 to speak to project engineers.
