Volleyball's Chandler Clark Adds Another OVC Setter of the Week Award

MSU Athletics

Following the season's opening weekend, Morehead State volleyball's Chandler Clark continued to grow her trophy collection as she garnered Setter of the Week accolades from the Ohio Valley Conference Monday.

Monday's recognition marks the fourth OVC Setter of the Week award for the Seymour, Ind. native who won the award during each of the final three months of the 2018 season. Clark finished the opening weekend dishing out 86 assists (10.75 per set) across eight sets while adding 12 digs, three kills, and a service ace.

Clark opened the season with a stellar 58 assist performance against Winthrop. Her 58 assists fell two assists shy of her career-high (60 versus Jacksonville State on 9/21/18). The performance also marked the eighth time in her career she'd eclipsed 50 assists in a match while also marking the third-highest single-game assists total of her career.

During the rest of the weekend, Clark registered 28 additional assists in three total sets against North Carolina A&T and Davidson. She notched 16 assists across two sets against the Aggies before recording 12 assists in a lone set against the Wildcats.

For her career, Clark ranks 11th on the Morehead State career assists leaderboard. She has a chance to move up that list as she sits 121 assists shy of tying Dana Allender (1991-94) with 1,965 assists. Clark is also 156 assists shy of becoming the 10th Eagle to reach the 2,000 assist plateau.

Clark and Morehead State return to the court this weekend, competing at home for the first time during the 2019 slate. The Eagles host the Eagle Challenge Friday and Saturday, welcoming Georgia State, Presbyterian, and Providence into Johnson Arena. Match times for Morehead State are 11 a.m. ET and 7 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m. Saturday.
