Morehead State junior guard Skyelar Potter has been voted as the OVC Newcomer of the week.
Potter, a transfer from Wright State from Bowling Green, Ky., earned his first-ever OVC weekly award, giving MSU four league honors this season (Johni Broome has three Freshman of the Week accolades). That is the most awards for the program in a single season since Kenneth Faried and Demonte Harper combined for nine in 2010-11.
Potter scored a career-high 22 points in the Eagles' game at then No. 24 Clemson on Dec. 21. His point total, five three-pointers swished and 7-for-10 field goal percentage are the best for an individual opponent against Clemson this season.
In nine games this season, Potter leads Morehead State with 11.3 points per game, and he also leads the team in three-point percentage at 37 percent.
Potter and the Eagles continue OVC play starting Jan. 2 at Murray State at 5 p.m. ET.
