Maze responds to additional Judical Conduct Commission charge

WKYT

A Rowan County judge has responded to new charges from the Judicial Conduct Commission.

Beth Maze is Circuit Court Judge for Kentucky's 21st Judicial Circuit consisting of Bath, Menifee, Montgomery, and Rowan counties.  Maze is currently on paid administrative leave pending charges from the Judicial Conduct Committee AND criminal charges in Bath County stemming from an incident with the arrest of her ex-husband in 2017.

The J-C-C added a 6th charge to Maze’s list last month, claiming she violated rules when she contacted a judge on the commission before her final hearing.

Maze responded to the charge saying she was reporting what she deemed to be intimidating a witness to the judge as her Chief Regional Judge, not as a member of the Judicial Conduct Commission.

Maze’s attorney provided a transcript from a deposition in which Circuit Clerk Kim Tabor claimed she overheard a plot to remove Judge Maze from office.  Tabor also asked that her testimony be sealed because she fears retaliation from those same people.

The Committee has not yet filed a reaction to Maze’s response.

Maze is scheduled to appear in Bath Circuit Court February 27th at 10 a.m. for a hearing on her criminal charges.
