A Morehead man pled not guilty to murder charges Wednesday morning.
42-year-old Gary Jefferies was arraigned in Rowan District Court on multiple charges.
Jefferies was arrested in December in connection with the murder of Jill Clayton. Her remains were found in an area near wolf hollow road in Morehead nearly two weeks after she was last seen by family members.
Jefferies is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corps. No bond has been set.
The court assigned Public Defender Adrian Jacob to represent Jefferies. A pretrial conference and preliminary hearing will be held Monday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
