Hindman Settlement School is hosting its 38th Annual Appalachian Writers’ Workshop, July 26 - 31 in Hindman, Kentucky.
This year the School is honoring the memory of Jim Wayne Miller, who was associated with the workshop during its formative years, and highlighting the release of Every Leaf a Mirror: A Jim Wayne Miller Reader, published by the University of Kentucky Press.
Through the years, many beginning and accomplished writers have come to Hindman for a week of learning and fellowship. This year, the workshop includes sessions on creative nonfiction, poetry, short story, memoir, novel and special sessions on food writing, and writing for children and young adults.
The sessions will be taught by a talented group of published writers who mentor workshop participants, both in groups and individually.
Each evening, workshop staff members will read from their works. Evening programs start at 7:00 pm and are free and open to the public. All readings will be in the May Stone Building at Hindman Settlement School.
